The Bluebell Creeper, Sollya heterophylla, is native to Australia. An evergreen climber, it bears lance-shaped, fresh green leaves and contrasting pretty, blue, bell-shaped summer flowers, followed by edible, blue berries. It’s perfect for training over a pergola or arch in a sheltered, sunny spot.
Grow Sollya heterophylla in moist but well drained soil or compost. In cooler regions grow in a container, which you can move indoors in autumn, or raise under glass. Tie in twining stems using raffia or twine. In spring cut back the flowered shoots back to the strongest buds. Water sparingly during the winter months.
Can grow to about 1.8 x 2m.
Also known as Billardiera heterophylla.
