Japanese Wisteria
Long racemes of mauve-blue flowers with a yellow patch appear in late spring to early summer, delicately fragranced, and are sometimes followed by velvety seed pods which bring extra interest to the garden when other plants are starting to fade.
This vigorous deciduous climbing shrub is perfect for training over a sunny wall, or left to hang gracefully from a sturdy pergola or arch. Wisteria are best grown in full sun and near to entrances, pathways or doorways so the beautiful fragrance can be enjoyed. To ensure a good floral display prune after flowering and once more in mid-winter.
