This is an exciting new hybrid born and bred in the district of Brixton, North Taranaki, New Zealand. Finally there is an instant Magnolia campbelli that often sets flowers in the first year from grafting. This variety is ideal if you have to downsize your garden when moving, and can’t wait for Magnolia campbellii or ‘Charles Raffill’ to take 6 or 8 years to flower. The original mother plant supported 67 flower buds at 5 years from seed and in the 3rd year of flowering. The growth habit tends to be wider than high as the plant flowers twice a year, slowing the growth. Should grow to around 4x3.5m after 10 years.
