Pisum sativum
A self-supporting dwarf pea that requires no staking at all. Produces high yields of very sweet, tender peas. Pods grow at the top of bush and are easy to pick.
Position
Full sun.
Sow
Direct into garden position. Sow in damp soil and withhold further watering until seedlings appear. Best grown in blocks of wide rows so tendrils interlock with neighbouring plants. Choose a sunny well-drained position. Before sowing, work in lime and Thrive Granular All Purpose Fertiliser.
Care
Protect young seedlings from snails with Yates Blitzem. Later, netting may be needed to protect from birds. Water often, and apply Yates Thrive Soluble Fertiliser regularly once buds appear. Regular picking encourages further crops.
Caution: Seed is treated to minimise fungus attack when planted. Do not eat seed or feed to animals.
