Extremely eye catching, with its stiff, sword shaped golden leaves shaded with orange, Libertia peregrinans (New Zealand Iris) is rhizomatous perennial which adds sparkles to the border! Slightly fragrant, pure small white, Iris like blossoms appear in clusters, on top of straight stems in late spring and early summer and flower sporadically from summer to autumn. This grass like plant makes a bold statement, especially in winter when it's foliage brightens!
Grows up to 45-60cm tall and wide in loose clusters of individual clumps. These clumps can spread out to 1m after 4-5 years. Libertia peregrinans is an ideal addition to garden beds, borders, mass planting, or rock gardens. The flower spikes are excellent as cut flowers.
Performs best in full sun or part shade in moderately fertile, moist, yet well draining soil.
