6 EASY STEPS TO SOW YOUR LAWN
Soil must be friable, evenly graded, well drained and level. Lightly rake area in one direction to create furrows.
Before opening, shake pack thoroughly to mix seeds. Disperse seeds from the pack evenly using the built-in spreader on top of the box.
Rake again lightly at right angles (90 degrees) to the original furrows. TIP: Apply Yates® Lawn Fertiliser for New Lawns on your freshly sown lawn for 12 weeks gentle feeding.
It is important to cover seeds in a thin layer of soil to maximise germination and deter birds.
Keep the top 1cm of soil moist at all times during germination using a fine mist spray. This may require watering several times a day especially in hot and windy conditions.
TIP: Apply Yates® Lawn Seed Sealer Hose-on to lock in moisture and reduce erosion.
HANDY TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
Mowing new lawns: when grass is 5-8cm high, cut for the first time. Trim lightly, gradually lowering the mower blades each time you mow, until you reach an ideal cutting height of 2.5cm.
Mowing established lawns: Mow regularly but try not to remove more than a third of the growth at any one time.
Oversowing: can thicken and strengthen your existing lawn.
After 12 weeks, fertilise your new lawn with Yates® Quarterly Lawn Fertiliser for a healthy, green, lush lawn.
