Throughout the growing season beautiful double daisies (extra petals) of white cover Summersong™ White. This free-flowering, compact perennial was bred by Daniel Bede McDonald in Cobbitty, New South Wales, Australia along with many other fine bedding Argyranthemum.
This tough shrubby daisy is popular for its beauty and resilience. An evergreen perennial, it originates from the Canary Islands, Madeira and other regions in Macaronesia, where it survives in sunny, rough-sloped terrain. In temperate zones with cold winters it is grown as a bedding annual from spring to fall.
Federation daisies are shrubby and clump-forming and deeply lobed leaves that emit a strong fragrance when crushed. Its white daisies are produced above the foliage and appear from late spring till frost, or almost year-round in frost-free climates, and are attractive to butterflies. Flowering subsides in very hot weather and deadheading will prolong vigorous blooms.
The easy-to-grow Summersong White exceeds in full sun and moderately fertile garden soil with good drainage. Regular light pruning will promote compact growth, increase flowering and provide cuttings for propagation. Plants are wind and salt tolerant, so they are ideal for seaside gardens, containers, or sunny garden beds. The blossoms make cheerful, quality cutflowers for a vase.
