'Sunshine' is a neat native shrub with greyish green leaves backed in white felt. It also produces sprays of very yellow, daisy type blooms over the warmer months.

It is a very tough, compact growing evergreen plant that will tolerate frost. Suitable for growing in coastal or exposed areas in hot sunny places, but also slightly shady positions. Can handle poor soils, but needs good drainage.

Can grow to around 1.5m.

Also known as Senecio greyiiIt is a member of the Asteraceae, the daisy family. ‘Sunshine’ is not the original pure Brachyglottis greyi, but one of the Dunedin Hybrids, the result of crosses originating in horticulture early in the twentieth century between three New Zealand species of Brachyglottis. The parent species are described on the NZ Flora website: Brachyglottis greyii, Brachyglottis laxifolia, and Brachyglottis compactaB. laxifolia and B. compacta are shorter than B. greyi – both only grow to 1m.
