Clematis montana are fast growing climbers up to 6 m high. They are deciduous over winter and then leaf and flower very heavily in spring. ‘Giant Star’ is a newly developed Clematis from New Zealand.
Its most distinguishable feature are the very large (for a Clematis montana) flowers that grow to more than 10 cm in diameter.
The flowers are semi-double and soft-pink of colour. Because they are semi-double they allow a good view of the golden-yellow anthers. ‘Giant Star’ looks great against walls, trellis or in a tree.
