A graceful, upright, deciduous shrub with glossy, dark green foliage. Hydrangea ‘Kyushu’ is one of the first Hydrangeas to bloom, with abundant floral panicles to 20cm. And it puts on a great show, with around three months of white to cream blooms that hold their colour from late summer into autumn.
The glossy leaves are more narrow than most paniculata Hydrangeas.
This fantastic Hydrangea was ‘discovered’ in its namesake, Kyushu, Japan, by Captain Collingwood Ingram in 1926 and it remains a favourite around the world.
Paniculata Hydrangeas are commonly known as PeeGee Hydrangeas and are very hip and happening in the world of landscapers at the moment, and for good reason. They are valuable in part shade positions, will take more sun than most Hydrangeas and offer very impressive and long lasting in blooms. It is worth keeping in mind, that if you plant it in a sunny spot, it should be sheltered from drying winds and will need a little more water.
Hydrangeas grow best where the roots are cool and moist. Add plenty of organic matter to the soil and you will be rewarded with masses of stunning blooms. A winter prune to around half the height will result in the best blooms next season as they flower on new wood. 120-150x120-150cm
