Has larger shiny green leaves than Michelia figo with white and wine flowers that are quite large but dont open out. Cream flowers are flushed purple. Wonderful fruity fragrance. Prefers shelter.
An evergreen small tree with glossy green leaves. The soft brown velvet buds are produced in late winter and open to fragrant white flowers. For best results plant in semi shade with protection from the afternoon sun. Reasonably easy care once established.
Flowers: Brown furry buds open to 7cm white flowers with a soft pink margin, larger than M. Figo. Very fragrant.
Height: to 4 metres
Features: Very hardy evergreen.
