Bred in New Zealand by the late Felix Jury. Known also to most as the 'Tui Tree' because Tui birds go absolutely bonkers over the sweet nectar of the cherry blossom.
Probabaly has the deepest carmine red bloom of all the flowering cherry varieties.
Felix Jury is a smaller growing variety, with an upright form. It has been popular as a specimen garden tree, but unfortunately, it is not sterile so it sets seed which makes it problematic in areas where P. campanulata has become a noxious weed through birds spreading the seed.
